Our 98 TA has been with us since 2004. We bought it bone stock, regular automatic LS1 Trans Am. Nothing special at all. We have transformed it into a road hugging nitroused 6.0L street car. In May of 2010 our LS1 smoked the bearings coming home from the F-body Gathering in Atlanta. Made it all the way to the house before it gave up the ghost. I promptly took it completely apart, and then wondered what the heck I had done. Took me 7 years to finish the car, but it is an amazing machine now. The motor is a 6.0L LQ9 with .02 over Speed Pro pistons, Futral F13 112cl cam, the heads have been resized for bigger valves and worked over with some hand porting and cleaned up to flow better. It is topped by a FAST 90mm intake manifold with a Nick Williams 90mm throttle body. Stainless long tube headers go back to a custom y-pipe by Henry's Muffler in Raleigh back into a Spintech crossflow muffler. With a 150 wet shot of nitrous we hope to be in the 600rwhp range once we get it on the dyno. The transmission is a Tick Stage 2 T56 replacing the original 4L60E automatic. It has a SPEC clutch and flywheel and a SLP short throw shifter with a short stick that I made. Suspension consists of BMR lowering springs and Bilstein shocks with BMR LCA relocation brackets and SFCs and a complete tubular front Spohn suspension including K-member and upper and lower contol arms. Under the hood everything has been hidden and shaved. All of the wiring has been relocated into the fender wells and behind the bumper ,the ABS has been deleted and all the lines are tucked in to be hidden. The coil packs have also been tucked and hidden. Battery has been relocated to the trunk with a battery box we built so the engine bay is void of almost all ugly junk other than the A/C. Brakes are C6 Corvette brakes using brackets we made along with the stock f-body rear brakes that have better pads and rotors. We'll update as soon as we get some dyno numbers.
